Yesterday we celebrated Jackie Robinson day for the 23rd year, with every player across the league wearing that coveted 42. We had another full slate yesterday, with 15 games stretched out across the day. In similar fashion to yesterday, we had some great pitching performances, valiant comeback efforts and teams still struggling to find their footing early on.

We had 3 games in our Mid-week early slate games, starting out with the Diamondbacks taking the rubber match of their series with the Orioles, following a 10th inning home run from Adrian Del Castillo propelling the Diamondbacks to an 8-5 win. We move over to St. Louis, where the Cardinals shock the Guardians and take the last two games of the series following Dustin May’s best start as a Cardinal, giving up only one run through 6 frames and leading to a 5-3 win. Our final early game may come as a surprise, but believe it or not the Boston Red Sox have won a baseball game. They scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning and after a great start from Connelly Early going 6 innings, allowing only only 2 hits and 1 run getting the win as the Red Sox hold on 9-5.

As we move into our main slate we are seeing some patterns beginning to form. Firstly the Reds offense is completely reliant on the home run ball, as they scored all their runs via the home runs both of their last two games, including 4 home runs yesterday, 2 of which were 3 run home runs from Sal Stewart, leading to a 8-3 win over the Giants. Following that the Cubs offense continues to mash, putting up another 10+ run performance, leading to a 11-2 win over the Phillies and making their average runs scored in that series 9.3. The New York Yankees are starting to seem like a team that is only going to win Via the walkoff, as once again a rough start and yet another Mike Trout and Aaron Judge homer, things ended with a Yankee walkoff win by Jose Caballero, ending the game 5-4. Finally the Tampa Bay Rays broke a curse that I would imagine very few knew existed. However niche it may be the Rays had not one a baseball game on April 15th in 15 years. That is of course until last night where they continued their dominance over the White sox, winning 8-3.

Our Game of the day lives here in the late slate of games, but first the Rangers and Athletics faced off once again, the Athletics took an early lead, and despite a valiant effort from the Rangers, including a 3 run 8th and a moonshot from Corey Seager, the Athletics would hold on 6-5. To close out the night the Dodgers finish out their series with the Mets, after a tightly contested low scoring game through 7, the dodgers completely broke it open in the 8th, with a Dalton Rushing grandslam followed by Kyle Tuckers first home run in Dodger stadium, leading to a 8-2 Dodger win. Finally that brings us to our game of the day, where the Mariners took on the Padres. The Mariners had complete control over this game, following a 2 run 2nd, 4th, and 5th with a 2 run Luke Raley home run seemingly putting the game out of reach. This would not be the case as it just took the Padres 26 outs to finally wake up, as they put up 5 runs in the 9th, 4 of which came with two outs to inevitably walk off the Mariners 7-6 on a two run Jackson Merrill double.

Additionally the Tigers outlast the Royals 2-1 in another pitching duel. The Pirates take the series, beating the Nationals 2-0. The Braves sluggers led them to a 6-3 win over the Marlins. The Brewers bounce back with a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. Finally the Astros hold on against the Rockies 3-1.
